Directions to the Dome and Corn Exchange from Brighton Station

The Friday night concert is taking place in the Corn Exchange which is part of the Dome Complex. This two-hundred-year-old building was once the stables and riding school for the Brighton Pavilion, bijou holiday home for the Prince Regent, later George IV.

If you are arriving in Brighton by train and coming straight to the Corn Exchange:

There are several options for walking to the Pavilion, whichever way you choose it should take an average walker between five and ten minutes to get to the Corn Exchange. Once you have negotiated the barriers go straight ahead to the exit, once on the forecourt (* alternative route starts here) you will see an exit ahead of you, walk out of the gates and cross to your left, walk down the hill watching ahead of you for the first sight of the sea. Cross two side roads at pedestrian crossings. Shortly after the second crossing you will see a park on your left, take the next turning left, past the park (the top of the side street, Church Street, is now blocked and pedestrian access only) and walk down the hill, on whichever side you fancy but you will need to be on the right eventually. Carefully cross the entrance/exit to an NCP carpark and a couple of side streets. You will come to a larger street with Gresham Blake on one corner and the William IV pub on the other, this is Bond Street which leads to North Street and shopping. Cross over again and **carry on down to the next corner. Cross again, and be aware that despite appearances this is NOT a pedestrian street (you are supposed to 'negotiate' use of the street with cars) to the Mash Tun ***. This is New Road where several of the busking sites will be, to your left is Jubilee Street where there will be more busking sites and one of the massed sings. Just off New Road is the Pavilion Gardens where there will be more busking. It is also a lovely spot and a good place to view the Royal Pavilion - once you have registered and have your wristband you will be able to use the Corn Exchange South Entrance that opens out into the gardens. The Mash Tun forms the corner of the Dome Complex, the entrance to the Corn Exchange entrance is just a bit further down Church Street on the right.

Alternative route from the station - *out on the station forecourt turn right and leave by the side gates heading towards the Brighton Bystander (very good English breakfasts), once out of the gates turn left and double back on yourself - you need to go down the steep road that goes UNDER the station forecourt (Trafalgar Street). Head down the hill, past the Albert pub on your right (note the Banksy's on the wall underneath the tribute to John Peel). To your right are the North Laines - the 'bohemian' quarter of Brighton where the smaller, independent shops and venues are. You need to head right here, preferably down Sydney Street (opposite the hat shop, has a Forfar's bakers on the corner). Walk down here, past the Amnesty bookshop, at the end you can either:

To take the shopping route - go slightly right then down the pedestrianized Kensington Gardens, cross over towards Infinity Foods, then a bit right then left again. Walk down Gardner Street, cross over towards the William IV, turn left and rejoin main route at **

or

Take in another local tourist spot - some of the work of local graffiti artists - carry more or less straight on down Kensington Street, the art is on your right. At the end cross over (traffic is coming from your right), turn left then right and walk down Jubiliee Street past the new library and one of our mass sing sites. Also a lot of very new, very pricey restaurants. Past the Waggon and Horses (a busking site) cross over carefully (traffic coming from left) to the Mash Tun and rejoin main route from ***

Directions from the Coach drop

According to the National Express website they will drop you on the Old Steine as the bus station is closed for refurbishment. The bus stop should be on the east side so you hopefully you will have the dolphin fountain on your right, the sea behind you and the Royal Pavilion ahead and to the left. Walk on the pavement on the left towards the pedestrian crossings, North Street, the main shopping street will be on your left, with a cobbler's on the corner. Cross over the bottom of North Street, walk past the bus stops and the Royal Pavilion, the Dome Complex is behind the Pavilion. Turn left up Church Street, walk past the entrance to Pavilion Gardens on your left, then walk towards the next corner, the building on your left is the Dome Complex, the Corn Exchange entrance is just before the corner with the Mash Tun pub.
